Vegan Thanksgiving

I hope all of you had a pleasant Thanksgiving. I had a wonderful one! This year was my very first Vegan Thanksgiving and I was fortunate enough to spend it with other vegans over a completely cruelty-free dinner. We had unturkey with the best gravy I've ever had! We also had agave ginger sweet potatoes with pine nuts, cornbread dressing with eggplant and oyster mushrooms, and a bunch of other things that would take me way too long to list. My favorite dessert was the pumpkin marble cheescake! It was soo delicious and creamy! Ok, I'm making myself hungry.

I don't have my photo software on this computer, so I can't really clean up the images much, but I want to at least shrink a few, so that I can share them with you. I met some amazing and very sweet and compassionate people. I hope to be able to see them again sometime soonish. I'm not going to label the photos in case they want some privacy.

This is a family that I met who actually drove almost 3 hours to join us! It turns out, we all went to the same schools and lived about 15 min away from each other!! I move to Houston and meet vegans from my hometown ~ crazy. They are eating a 75% raw diet and can't you just see it? Their skin just glows. They are a really sweet family.

This is a friend who told me about the event. If it hadn't been for him, I wouldn't have had the best TG ever. Thank you!!

This is a friend that I made while I was there. She is such a sweet person and her doggie was the star of the show! Her doggie's name is Lucky.

Lucky says "have a great day!"

you are making me hungry too!

that is so cool that you found an all-vegan thanksgiving in houston. i used to live in texas so i know it's not the most vegetarian-friendly place on earth.
I'm so glad you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and made so many new friends. You're looking pretty fantastic yourself! :)
Awww, Lucky is adorable! And what a great Thanksgiving. I wish I had the discipline to eat so well - I know that eating raw is good for you, but I'm such a sucker for pasta. *sigh* I could give up meat, but the cooked pasta dishes would be hard to let go of.

Was the dinner at her house? Or at a restaurant of some sort? The kitchen looks so wonderful - my husband would be jealous!

I was just thinking about you yesterday when I read an article on responsible wool buying for knitters - such as buying from known people that guarantee the animal won't sunburn when it is shorn, etc. - now the wool/vegan thing makes more sense. Definitely something I'll keep in mind in the future.
Dinner was at the hostess's house! The photo with the food is actually in her 2nd kitchen! She has a really beautiful home with tons of greenery and a little koi pond. :)

I'll have to link you to my earlier posts (like wayyy back) about wool.

PS. You don't have to give up pasta! I dont' really eat a raw diet, but I do try to include more raw foods into my diet when I can. I eat plenty of pasta!

Vegetarianism is a stepping stone to veganism!
Is that a full-grown dog?? To cute! Your feast sounds fantastic, what a wonderful way to give thanks.
Oh Atouria, that's wonderful! When I lived in Buffalo, we would go to vegan thanksgiving potlucks and they were the best! This year I went to my family (with turkey, but tons of other stuff we could eat) and Aaron's family (no turkey, all vegan) and it was great. I was really hoping to find a vegan potluck here, but I didn't spend the time looking for one. Next year!
